Foster

Logan's Rescue is run completely through foster homes. We do not have a shelter or kennel where the dogs and cats are housed. Fostering is a wonderful opportunity to open your home to a needy dog or cat without the commitment of adoption. Although you are not committing to adoption, there is a significant time obligation. By agreeing to foster, you agree to house that animal until a forever home can be found. This is at least a 2 week commitment but can turn into months or even years. Logan’s Rescue will provide all medical expenses to the animal during this time period, however we ask that you provide a high quality diet, toys, blankets and most importantly, love. We will also provide 24/7 support, as we understand brining an animal into your home is not a small commitment and is certainly not always easy. If you think that fostering is for you, please read our foster information below and fill out an application below. We look forward to hearing from you!

All Animals

  • All fosters must be 21 years of age or older.

  • All fosters must live within an approximately 2 hour drive from the Rochester, NY area. This ensures our fosters can make local vet appointments and obedience classes as needed.

  • Renters must provide written proof from their landlords on their pet policies.

  • All current resident animals must be spayed or neutered and current on their vaccinations. If there is a medical reason that the above are not done, written proof from your veterinarian is required.

    • We make exceptions on spaying and neutering, with proof, if the dog is an active working or show dog.

  • You must be willing and able to keep the foster separate from resident pets for at least 2 weeks.

Dogs and Puppies

  • We prefer fenced in yards but they are not required. Invisible fencing will NOT be accepted. Why we do not accept Invisible Fencing.

  • You must be willing to use only positive reinforcement training methods and attend training with only trainers we approve of. We do not tolerate the use of choke, prong or shock collars or dominance based training methods.

Cats and Kittens

  • All cats and kittens must reside inside only. We will not foster to indoor/outdoor homes.
