Volunteer

Want to help but can't commit to fostering or adopting? We are always looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks.

Training

Anyone who has adopted a dog from us knows that training is the biggest thing we discuss with new owners. We are looking to put together a "Training Task Force" to better serve the foster dogs in our program. This would involve helping with early socialization and training of puppies and bringing older dogs to obedience classes. Volunteers would need to be willing to travel to the fosters home to pick up the dog and bring him/her to training (generally in the Irondequoit area). All volunteers interested in puppy socialization and training will be required to attend an orientation to learn the basics of the Puppy Culture program we utilize.

Transportation

This would involve transporting animals to areas, generally in the Rochester area, for vet appointments, events, training, etc.

Walking Dogs

Some of our foster dogs are in a "crate and rotate" situation with multipe other dogs so it benefits them greatly to get out for a walk or day trip. This would involve going to the fosters home to pick up the dog and walking him/her around the neighborhood or a local park/hiking trail. We would require you attend our training orientation prior to walking dogs.

Overnight Care/Pet Sitting

We prefer not to board our fosters so are always looking for volunteers willing to take on a dog or cat for a short amount of time. This allows our foster families to take vacations or gives us time to find a permanent foster home. We would require you be willing to "crate and rotate" and attend a training orientation prior to taking pets into your home.

Events

The adoption events we attend are currently few and far between but we are looking to change that! We need volunteers willing to handle dogs at adoption events. These events generally occur on weekends.

Home Visits

All families that adopt from us must undergo a home visit prior to adoption. We are looking for volunteers willing to perform these home visits. Attendance of our home visit orientation is mandatory.

Other

Do you have another skill or idea that you think will benefit the rescue? We are always looking for creative people with new ideas! Please let us know how you want to contribute in the animal experience category.
